** Must be a resident of Illinois ** Interested in learning to work with horses? Want to get paid while you are getting trained? Opportunity to earn $20/hour for 30 to 40 hours a week. Total of 599 hours. Great short term opportunity to earn while you learn! Equus Rescue Located at 8743 Le Pere School Rd, Millstadt, Illinois 62260. We care for over 50 horses at Equus, and there is always something to do! Responsible for feeding/watering and stall cleaning, but duties can also include: · Grooming · Turning horses out for exercise · Administering medication · Treating minor ailments · General care of barn cats · Yard work (weed removal, grass cutting) · General barn maintenance · Fundraising/event planning · Working with Horse Whisperer for rehabilitation of horses · Providing hoof care. We are at the barn rain or shine, seven days a week, and on holidays. We work indoors and outdoors in all-weather types for various periods of time. The horses are fed three times a day, so we have morning, afternoon and evening shifts. A microwave, small fridge, and coffee machine are available for volunteer use. We recommend bringing snacks and a drink (which are sometimes provided), and weather-appropriate clothing. Pay is $20 an hour for up to 30/35 hours a week for a total of 599 hours. Must be outdoorsy strong individuals, patient and willing to learn. Equine experience a plus, but not required Ages 18 and up are welcome.
