MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Registered Democrats in California have until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 11 to register to vote in the California Democratic Party Delegate Election. Every eligible voter who registers will receive a confirmation email with a unique Registration ID. Ballots will be mailed to homes in early January, and must be returned and received by the CA Democratic Party office no later than Wednesday, Jan. 27. Due to mail delays, it is recommended that you return your ballot as soon as possible. Ballots will include the names of all the candidates running in Assembly District 66 [Manhattan Beach is in this district] and votes may be cast for between 1 to 14 candidates. The top seven women and top seven men will be elected and represent the district. Manhattan Beach residents Tony Salvaggio, Amy Howorth, Diane Wallace, Elsa Gerard, Kathleen Paralusz, Allen Kirschenbaum, and Susan Goodlerner are on the ballot. The California Democratic Party Bylaws state that an Assembly District Elections Meeting shall be held in each of the 80 Assembly Districts in California in January of each odd-numbered year to elect representatives (referred to herein as "Assembly District Delegates" or "ADDs") to the California Democratic Party State Central Committee (referred to in the Bylaws as "This Committee" or DSCC) and a representative to the CDP Executive Board (referred to herein as "E-Board representatives"), according to an online California Democratic Party fact sheet.
