Each year teach-in organizers focus on one theme from a group of 20 key subjects relating to Dr. King’s unique place in America and African American church history. This year’s theme will look at the last of Dr. King’s efforts, the Memphis campaign. Despite the Memphis campaign’s ultimately tragic attempt at nonviolent protest, Dr. King delivers one of his most memorable messages, “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop.” How can these events help us understand and execute the work of social justice today? These and other vital questions will be examined. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
