JOLIET, IL —The Joliet Fire Department saved two dogs that were inside a house at 1805 Foxfield Drive that started on fire Saturday night on Joliet's west side. The homeowners were gone when Joliet fire engines from stations 6, 7 and 8 rolled up to the structure fire around 7:20 p.m.
The subdivision is in the near Essington Road and Theodore Street.
"A passerby noticed smoke coming from the roof and called 911," Joliet Fire Chief Greg Blaskey stated.
Joliet firefighters encountered heavy smoke as they searched inside. Although no one was home, firefighters found two dogs that were rescued and returned to the homeowners.
The inside damage at the house on Foxfield Drive was extensive and the house is inhabitable at this point, the fire department said.
The fire appeared to have started in the kitchen area and is under investigation by the Joliet Fire Department.
