Position Summary:   Ensures quality of all parts produced. Monitors quality standards and adherence to procedures. Conducts employee quality training for new and existing employees. Maintains inspection materials. Collects and analyzes quality data in support of projects and/or continuous quality improvement along with new product involvement. Responsible for the operation of the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and the Digital Optical Comparator.Hours for this position are Monday-Friday 2:00pm-10:pm. Pay rate depends on Quality experience. Minimum of $16.86/hour and up.Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Gathers and inspects production parts from current and previous day on a daily inspection schedule. Troubleshoots quality issues with the Quality Inspector Supervisor if parts are non-conforming to specifications.2. Ensures a minimum of one part of each machine is 100% QC inspected per shift.3. Completes first piece sign off, 100% QC sheet verification. Works with cell leader to ensure part compliance, according to established company procedures.4.  Assists with tool replacement QC sheet verification as well as tool adjustment SOP.5. Determines disposition of non-conforming parts.6. Ensures inspection tools are current with calibration schedule.7. Performs daily random production audits, by verifying operator QC sheet entries.8. Works on quality projects as assigned.9. Collects, organizes, and stores quality data according to established company procedures.10. Assist in training new employees in quality inspection methods.11. Performs duties of co-workers in machine shop, as needed. Additional Duties and Responsibilities:Serves on Company committees as neededPerforms housekeeping tasks daily to keep department and work areas clean.Other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.Work Relationships and Scope:Reports directly to Quality Inspection Supervisor, Machine Shop. Regular contact with fellow employees for the purpose of obtaining and providing information. Demonstrate friendly and helpful approach and attitude toward internal and external customers, professionalism, commitment to the job, and loyalty to the Company.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:High School diploma or equivalent required – two-year technical degree or equivalent is preferred. Up to one year of quality or inspection related experience in a production environment. Individual must possess ability to follow written or verbal instructions; excellent verbal communication skills; professional demeanor and appearance; ability to solve problems with a variety of variables; ability to manage time effectively; self-motivation skills; ability to build positive work relationships with coworkers and customers; ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of people. Must be able to perform basic and intermediate math (add, subtract, multiply, fractions, decimals, percentages, standard deviation, math formula creation, graphing) and arithmetic calculations.Equipment Operated:Utilizes a PC and computer printer for word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Internet access, and other specific applications. Utilizes fax machine, telephone, gauges, inspection equipment and calipers and other measurement equipment, i.e., CMM and Digital Optical Comparator.Working Conditions:Work is performed largely in a production environment, with exposure to dirt, noise, and equipment movement hazards. Regular contact with employees. Deadline pressure is an integral part of the job. Frequent mental and visual concentration for checking parts. Work hours are generally during normal business hours and average at least 40 hours a week, with reasonable expectation of overtime. Sits and stands for equal parts of the day. Regular use of hand tools while inspecting parts. Four to eight hours daily are spent grasping objects. There is regular use of the keyboard. Requires the ability to receive detailed information through verbal communication.
