First Day Hike - Mt. Washington Overlook Part of Emerald View Park

Welcome Friends :) We are so excited that you are interested in joining us for our first ever First Day Hike! My name is Ranger Stevie and I am the new full time Ranger for Emerald View Park and the social media manager for our PGH Park Rnager Instagram as well (be sure to give us a follow). Hosting this eventwith me as well will be our new Part time Rangers, Ranger Marya & Ranger George. This First Day Hike was planned to be inclusive for everyone and is exactly 2 miles round trip. Entirely on a paved surface you will begin your First Day Hike at the Monongahela Incline or the "point of View" Overlook. Each location will have a ranger stationed there for you to check in, sign a waiver and answer any questions you may have! If you can help yourself from stopping to look at all the views this trip is about 20 minutes one way so you are going to want to give yourself about 45 minutes to finish this walk (thats with no stopping). There is a moderate hill climb throughout the walk just to keep in mind. To play it safe if you plan on stopping and checking out all the views I would suggest giving yourself at least an hour to complete your First Day Hike. Sturdy shoes, water, snacks are highly suggested. The temperatures are looking to be in the mid 50s and rainy so please be sure to dress appropriately. We will be sure to send any updates through here. If weather is casted to be severe we will cancel the event.
