Do you want to help ensure every single person experiencing homelessness counts?
We need a LOT of people to help for ONE NIGHT and you get $90. The experience is interesting and EASY! Everyone can do it as long as you have the required documents.
The Silberman School of Social Work is once again excited to partner with the New York City Department of Homeless Services to carry out the 2023 HOPE and Shadow Count – an annual count of those experiencing homelessness in New York City, taking place this January 24-25 overnight.
The Shadow Count involves paid “decoys” who are stationed in pairs across the city to help measure the HOPE Count’s accuracy.
Online Registration Form:
When: Tuesday, January 24 at 10 PM – Wednesday, January 25 at 4 AM.
How: Register for a decoy training, attend a decoy training, and be deployed on the night of Shadow Count. All decoys are required to attend one training.
Where:
• IN-PERSON trainings are held at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College located at 2180 Third Avenue @ 119th Street, New York, NY 10035.
• VIRTUAL trainings will be on Zoom.
Compensation: Decoys will be compensated $90.
What is required:
1. Complete a registration form:
2. Bring required documents (SS card, Photo ID, Vax proof)
3. Attend a decoy training (virtual or in-person)
4. Check into your designated location on the night of the Shadow Count and follow your captain’s instruction as you are deployed as a decoy.
