In late 2010, Keith Olson, Heath Walker, Brent Graham, and Steve McDonald sang their first chord as a quartet. These experienced singers quickly realized this combination was something special. GQ became the 2011 Land O’ Lakes quartet champion and went on to compete at the BHS International contest three times, finishing as high as 22nd. The quartet retired in 2014, but their friendship continued, overcoming distance, life changes, and even a pandemic!Early in 2022, these guys realized their lives were just better when they got together to sing, so they decided to put the band back together. Their quartet name had been taken over by the fabulous women’s quartet - the BHS 2022 4th place Bronze Medalists - so a new name had to be chosen. We are proud to welcome to the stage, The Gentlemen! Sun City StomperzThis band was formed in 2005 by Ernie Landes and Sid Gire in an effort to spread the joy of Dixieland Jazz to the folks in and around Sun City. The Band has been fortunate to appear at many community events, retirement homes, local festivals and watering holes throughout the greater Phoenix area, as well as regular visits to Arizona Classic Jazz Society events. They are well into their ninth year of twice monthly performances at the Sunset Bistro at the Lakes Restaurant in Westbrook Village, Peoria. The Sun City Stomperz made a conscience decision to concentrate their repertoire on the music of the first three decades of the twentieth century. This period includes the very beginnings of the traditional jazz age, the rise and fall of the Storyville District of New Orleans, the first Jazz Recordings and the resulting global appreciation of this music. The musicians hope to continue to provide this “Happy Music” for many years to come.
