Training Date: January 24th from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm (All Trainees), and 1:30 - 3:30 pm (Event Coordinator Trainees only) Event Date: January 25th from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm* *All trainees must attend all or part of the event to receive their credentials and certificate of completion. Shifts will be made available upon request. Location: St. Cloud Community Center, 3101 17th St, St Cloud, FL 34769 CarFit is a community-based educational program that promotes continued safe driving and mobility among older drivers by focusing attention on safety, comfort, and fit. The program is designed to help older drivers find out how well they currently fit their personal vehicle, highlight actions they can take to improve their fit, and promote conversations about driver safety and community mobility. A proper fit in one's personal vehicle can greatly increase not only the driver's safety but also the safety of others. CarFit is a program whose success depends on volunteers across the state. There are two ways one can become involved in CarFit: By becoming an Event Coordinator, you will be trained to host CarFit events following proper programmatic procedures. Event Coordinators can train CarFit technicians, secure dates and locations for CarFit events, participate in and monitor CarFit events, and communicate with the national organizations, AAA, AARP, and AOTA.Note: Event Coordinators are required to conduct and report at least one (1) CarFit event per year. Event Coordinator candidates only attending the 2-hour training must have previous experience working as a Technician. By becoming a CarFit Technician, you will be able to participate in CarFit events hosted by a CarFit Event Coordinator. A half-day training teaches you how to take drivers through a CarFit event safely following a triage approach: Check-in, Check-up, and Check-out.CarFit is an educational program developed in collaboration with AAA, AARP, and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
