Join us for live jazz at Sarasota Art Museum, hosted by the Jazz Club of Sarasota, featuring Camilo Molina and extended hours in the galleries, Bistro, and SHOP! Sip on refreshing cocktails and enjoy small bites in the Bistro. Each second Thursday of the month features a different style of jazz–from straight-ahead to free jazz, bebop to swing–programmed in partnership with Jazz Club of Sarasota. Galleries are open until 7:00 pm on Jazz Thursdays. Jazz Thursday activities: Enjoy Camilo Molina's performance on the Marcy & Michael Klein Plaza from 5:30 to 8:00 pm.Grab dinner and drinks at Bistro, which opens at 5 pm, serving a special evening menu, beer, wine, and cocktails.Explore the exhibitions in our galleries, with hours extended to 7 pm.Treasure hunt in SHOP all evening!Members always receive their 10% discount in SHOP & Bistro. ABOUT CAMILO MOLINA Camilo Molina is a jazz trumpeter who grew up in North Port Florida, a small town located just south of Sarasota. Right after high school, Camilo attended Miami Dade Community College before transferring to the University of Miami, where he got hisBachelor’s degree in jazz performance at the Frost School of Music. Camilo is now in his final year of his Masters degree in jazz instrumental performance at the University of Miami. Camilo is an active performer in Miami, performing in many popular jazz venues, such as Lagniappe, The Center For Subtropical Affair, Le ChatNior, The Fish House, and many more.He has also performed with down beat award-winning Alberto De LaReguera’s Salsa Orchestra and the legendary Melton Mustafa Big Band. Camilo is the second prize winner at the 2022 International Trumpet Guild Competition for jazz. Camilo has received mentorship from many present greats such as Marquis Hill, Philip Dizack, Mike Rodriguez, Etienne Charles, and Dafnis Prieto to name a few. He has also studied and performed with the likes of Brian Lynch and Marcus Strickland. Camilo Molina is in the process of recording and releasing his debut album, TheJourney, in 2023. Donald Distefano Jazz pianist Donald Distefano is a current student at the University of Miami where he studying under the great Martin Bejerano. Donald started piano at the age of 10 and studied classical piano for the first 5 years of his piano career before discovering jazz. He has gigged all around south Florida and a little bit in New York City as well while he was attending The New School. Donald has studied with many amazing teachers including Fred Hersch, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Mike Gerber, Martin Bejerano, Nitai Hershkovits, Mike King, Gerard D’Angelo, and Jeff Phillips. Some of Donald’s main influences on piano include Thelonious Monk, Brad Mehldau, Sullivan Fortner, Herbie Hancock, Art Tatum, Mulgrew Miller, and Bud Powell to name a few. Brahm Masla Brahm Masla is a drummer, vocalist, songwriter, and producer based out of Miami FL. He prides himself on his diverse musical background and experiences that have taken him across North America from stages like the San José Jazz fest in CA to the Copacabana Palace in Brazil, to the nitty gritty night clubs of NYC. He just recently released his debut EP “And we were names” available on all streaming platforms, and he currently leads his own bands BRAHM and June Arc. In addition to his own creative projects, Brahm has had the fortune of supporting a wonderful roster of legendary artists such as the great Charles Neville, Arturo Sandoval, Nicole Henry, RyanMontbleu, Maria Schneider, Tony Perez (of irakere), Nestor Torres, Curtis Lundy, Kid Sistr and many more. Jesse Katz Jesse Katz is an in-demand freelance bassist and composer in the South Florida area. In addition to leading his own projects, he can regularly be heard with the region’s best jazz musicians. He has an ever-growing recording pedigree as a side man, and is a member of the working bands of Camilo Molina, Jason Charos, and Marcelo Camacho, to name a few. Jesse is a graduate of the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, and in 2021 was an attendee at the prestigious Jazz Aspen Snowmass Academy.
