Make plans to attend the 20th Annual Gingerbread Extravaganza - one of Jacksonville's most popular holiday traditions & experiences taking place this December at the historic Old St. Andrew’s Church in downtown Jacksonville. From December 8th to December 27th, the church will be transformed into a winter wonderland featuring 50+ gingerbread creations by artists and creators plus holiday displays, a train display, bake shop and a gift shop and more. Old St. Andrew’s Church, a must visit destination on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, was built in 1887 and is the only major church in the city that survived the Great Fire of 1901. The church is located at 317 A. Philip Randolph Blvd across the street from VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena. The Gingerbread Extravaganza is a major fundraiser for the Jacksonville Historical Society, whose mission is to strengthen citizenship by engaging and educating Jacksonville’s people about their history, through preserving and sharing the evidence of the city’s past, and by advocating the value of historic preservation.
