The summer 2020 riots resulted in some 15 times more injured police officers, 30 times as many arrests, and estimated damages in dollar terms up to 1,300 times more costly than those of the Capitol riot. George Floyd rioters were found to have used more sophisticated and dangerous tactics than did the Capitol rioters, and in some cases weapons of greater lethality... Another key point to note about last summer’s riots were the targets in some of the riots. It’s not uncommon to see liberals try to argue that the Capitol riots were “symbolically” worse because the Capitol building was targeted during what was supposed to be part of the peaceful transfer of power process. What they conveniently forget, however, is that in some cities, left-wing rioters deliberately targeted government buildings including a federal courthouse, as this Twitter user reminded people as the left was busy minimizing the summer 2020 riots in the immediate aftermath of what took place at the Capitol building in January: The Capitol riot was VERY BAD, and everyone condemns it. But, dismissing 2020's riots as "just burning small businesses" and "totally different" is dishonest. Rioters burned down an active precinct with cops initially in it, set up a literal city-state, and killed 34 people. BLACK Lives Matter protests and "riots" after the death of George Floyd did as much as $2billion worth of damage. The costs have amounted to the costliest period of civil unrest in insurance history, overtaking the 1992 Los Angeles riots that cost $775million which, with inflation according to Axios, would be $1.42billion. Back in June, the city of Minneapolis said the looting and property damage had caused at least $55 million in destruction. At the time, vandals had damaged or set fire to at least 220 buildings in Minneapolis alone. Dozens of accused Capitol rioters have been held in pretrial detention for months, where they have been mistreated. In the summer 2020 riots, the vast majority of charges were dismissed, as they were in the Inauguration 2017 unrest. THAT'S INJUSTICE!
