Description

In this talk Dr. Lobur provides an overview of functional medicine, describing how he heals patients by addressing the root causes - food, infection, inflammation, immune imbalances, gut imbalances, hormone disturbances, toxicity, sleep, stress and structural integrity on a cellular and skeletal/organ system level. Dr. Lobur's practice is the Pittsburgh Center for Functional Medicine, where he takes a highly personalized functional medicine approach to help patients heal on a deeper level by cultivating wellness and properly tending to symptoms in order to uproot disease and harvest lifelong vitality. Medicine is an evolution in the practice of medicine that better addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century. By shifting from the traditional “disease-centered” focus of modern medical practice to a more patient-centered approach, functional medicine addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms or diagnoses. Functional medicine is uniquely suited to uncovering and correcting these “root causes” of chronic disease with the ultimate goal being to prevent and reverse complex medical conditions. -Pittsburgh Center for Functional Medicine Without the proper balance of underlying factors that are essential to our essence, we cannot flourish as human beings. Often unseen erosion takes place in our lives that moves us further away from the delicate balance we need to maintain a high level of health. We thus need to nourish our underlying physiologic roots of health to achieve our optimal state of wellness. This is a live event being held at the East End Cooperative Ministry's Community House (6140 Station St, Pittsburgh, PA 15206) and is also being livestreamed virtually via Zoom Webinar. About Dr. David Lobur Dr. David Lobur is a board-certified internist specializing in functional medicine. Having obtained an MD degree from Jefferson Medical College and practicing internal medicine as a hospitalist for a number of years, he now follows the principles of functional medicine learned through the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM)’s AFMCP and APM courses as a roadmap to helping his patients truly become the best they can be. Functional medicine has proven to be an immensely important guiding force in his own personal and professional life. After realizing that within our medical system at large, we were simply “managing disease” and not “optimizing wellness,” Dr. Lobur's own course became rerouted in many unexpected but amazing ways through his experiences with family and patients! Now at the Pittsburgh Center for Functional Medicine, he takes a highly personalized functional medicine approach to help patients heal on a deeper level by cultivating wellness and properly tending to symptoms in order to uproot disease and harvest lifelong vitality.
