Moving Beyond the Educator as Rescuer Identity

In this workshop we will explore different ways to maintain educator wellness in the face of the pressures of the rescuer identity. We will use art, storytelling and discussion to challenge public narrative around educators as rescuers. We will ask ourselves how naming needs, asking questions about our willingess to overwork and setting boundaries can help shift the narrative. And we will do this work in community, drawing inspiration from bell hooks' belief that "Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion."
