This interactive session will demonstrate how to create integrated learning experiences in a therapeutic setting using the expressive arts. Participants will explore how creative music & movement activities can be structured. Examples of research & evidence based practice will be discussed and reviewed.
Intermediate skill levels.
As result of this course,, participants will be able to:
1. Use creative music/movement activities as a therapeutic intervention.
2. Identify research which supports evidence based benefits for clients using the creative arts in therapeutic ways.
3. Identify strategies that center equity and help to advocate for improved outcomes.

Deborah Ann Stuart MS/CTRS/RSW completed a masters and bachelors of Science in Therapeutic Recreation at Michigan State University. She is presently a consultant & research analyst specialist at Michigan State University. Deborah has a forty year history as a nationally certified therapeutic recreation specialist ®istered social worker using movement for therapeutic goals. She studied summers at Harvard University in dance performance and movement therapy while teaching at Perkins School for the Blind.
