Join us for the 1st annual Police Vs Fire Chili cookoff! An evening celebrating the men and women in service of our communities, and a little bit of friendly competition thrown in there. The event is open to all of the Denver metro first responder's- (and their families) to compete and attend the event. All proceeds to go to the families of fallen Arvada Officers Gordon Beasley, and Dillon Vakoff. Competitors - please see the info below for entry! Attendee's - Entrance ticket will include tastings to all chilis, a scorecard rating your favorite chili, a drink ticket, and a bag full of schwag! Info for CompetitorsTraditional Pepper Chili is defined as any kind of meat or combination of meats, cooked with chili peppers, spices and other ingredients, with the exception of pasta, which is strictly forbidden. Beans may be used in competition chili. Competition chili must be made with one or a combination of beef, pork or turkey meat only. Toppings of cheese, onion, cilantro, or others may be added for presentation. The competition is open to men and women of any age (entering as individuals or teams). Competitors can be personnel of the fire department, the Police department, and their family members. Guest competitors are allowed. All teams or individuals must provide a valid email address when registering for the competition. Communication to the registered email address shall constitute notice delivered regarding competition matters. The entry fee is $25.00 per chili entered.Entry fee is payable through eventbrite tickets. Contestants must pre-register in order to enter the contest. Registration the day of the contest is not permitted. Contestants may enter more than one batch of chili, and may enter as a team or individually. Clever team names and chili names are encouraged.Each Chili entry fee entitles 2 people to attend the event.All ingredients must be pre-cooked and prepared prior to the event. The chili is to be brought "ready-to-eat."Regular commercial chili powder is permissible, but complete commercial chili mixes are not permitted. Each individual or team is responsible for cooking no less than two gallons of chili and turning in one cup of chili for judging. Judging bowls will be supplied.Each chili entered will be assigned a number by the judging committee, and each contestant is responsible for turning in his or her chili with that number by 6:00 p.m.Each participant's chili will be distributed to the event guests, but only after an individual or team has submitted their chili to the judges. The hosts will provide bowls, spoons and napkins to the teams for distributing the chili to the event guests. The Best Chili Award will be determined by the Judging Committee. The People's Choice Award is determined by the public. The public will be entitled to taste each participant's chili. All contestants must provide their own heating apparatus, such as a hot plate, crockpot, instapot, camping stove or canned fuel (e.g., Sterno). No wood or coal burning allowed- and in the event that we light the place on fire- thankfully we have the best in the biz to show us how to work a fire extinguisher! Hosts will provide the staging area and extension cords.Prizes!First Prize: $250, Event trophy, an Rtic cooler filled with prizes, an announcement at the event, and bragging rights! Peoples Choice Prize: $100, and an Rtic cooler filled with prizes!
