Homebrewed Comedy is coming to McGraw when it hits the stage at McGraw Box Brewing Co. on Friday, March 31. Sarah Benson is headlining the show and Will Phillips is joining host Mike Peters. The show starts at 7 p.m., but get there early to get some drinks. It's a free show, so tip the staff super well. Seating begins at 6:30 p.m. About the comedians: Mike Peters, a Binghamton comedian, specializes in self-deprecating, observational humor. A contributor for Funny or Die, Peters is the founder of Homebrewed Comedy. He hosts at the Syracuse Funny Bone and Wise Crackers in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., won the Utica Brews Laugh Contest and Uptown Roast Battle and opened for Super Troopers’ Rabbit, Erik Stolhanske and Gilbert Gottfried. Peters produces shows all over New York and hosts his weekly podcasts, On the Mic with Mike Peters and It’s About Time: A Sopranos Watch Podcast. A talented comedian, writer and author, Will Phillips is a Utica favorite. He’s the head of content development for Stage Time Trivia, which serves several restaurants around the Central New York area, and co-created the popular KoldCast web series, Murder Squad, D.B.A. Before his stand-up career began, Phillips spent two years working with Family Guy and wrote Hollywood Failure, which was published in 2014. Sarah Benson is one of the strongest comedians in Rochester. She came up through the Rochester scene before spending a few years in Denver. Benson has performed across the country, working at the ComedyWorks in Denver, the Helium Comedy Club in Buffalo, the Comedy Bar in Toronto and The Improv in Orlando, Fla. She's hosted monthly shows in Denver and Rochester and opened for Pete Holmes, Chris Kattan and The Grawlix.
