Description

The Crazy Horse is over the moon to present the first of two nights celebrating New Years Eve with GrooveSession. This is a band we’ve had a deep relationship with since they first played here on February 7, 2014. We knew immediately how special they were and their countless performances since have only solidified that feeling in our hearts. We consider them the ultimate band to achieve everything we desire in this space – cathartic emotional release, celebratory bliss, fearless group improvisation, dance ecstasy, riveting songcraft and universal human connection. As we wrap up 2022, there’s no other band we’d want to share the experience with than GrooveSession. The band will celebrate the occasion by playing their seminal album “Memoirs of Niwa” in entirety for one of the sets! GrooveSession has a song called “Last Gig” which is about embracing every moment to its fullest and taking nothing for granted. If you like bands that hold nothing back and leave everything on stage, this is the band for you. Fueled by the thunderous rhythmic duo of brothers Manny and Ronnie Sanchez, GrooveSession is as fun to watch as they are to hear. This pair approach the drums and bass unlike anyone else, playing with both raw intensity and breathtaking finesse. Their long manes flow and tumble as they tap in to pure primal energy. The fresher faces on the block are guitarist/vocalist Kyle Merrill and keyboardist Alex Mello. You might know them from a San Diego band that used to play here called Brothers Gow. Their addition to the lineup has solidified GrooveSession as the monumental jam juggernaut they were always meant to be. Kyle is like a cartoon guitar hero, capable to manifesting anything he wants on the instrument and doing it in such lovable fashion. Alex is the quiet assassin, unleashing a symphony of sound through the magic of his fingers What we’re dealing with are four instrumental virtuosos, two sublime singers in Manny and Kyle, a wealth of truly inspiring original material merged from the two bands and the ability to whip a dance floor into a frenzy at the drop of a hat. When that signature GrooveSession funky, rocking, swampy soul hits the airwaves, you have no choice but to let your limbs fly. Throw in an electro onslaught of keyboard wizardry, a little bit of So. Cal reggae and copious amounts of freewheeling improv and the element of surprise is more rambunctious than ever. GrooveSession has tested the structural integrity of this building on multiple occasions. Let’s hope it holds once again.
