American home shield (AHS) costs about 79.99/month plus every time you call them the service call costs $125. No problem with that. Problem is that their technicians are trained to find an excuse that the problems you having, Home shield warranty will not cover, and if in the rare case it does cover then you end up paying $500 to $1500 for a simple thing that could have been fixed by yourself or for a just few dollars just by calling the local technicians. American Home shield contractors are cutthroats in such a way because they know AHS will allow them to charge you 400% meaning a $100 item AHS tech will charge you $400 thus reducing AHS payout to near nothing. AMERICAN Home Shield's contractors dishonestly charge you because they know AHS will not pay them enough. My air conditioner outside unit fan went out. The AHS tech came charging me $125 bucks, then he gave an estimate that AHS will only pay $384 (only if their AC company does the work) and I must pay an additional $1700 more for my AC to work. I already paid the AHS tech. $125 another 1700 was beyond me. later, I only paid an independent AC tech 1/4 of what the AHS tech did want to charge. This tech replaced some sort of capacitor and AC was running properly. I wasted too many months at AHS plus 125 of their tech and no good came out of it. AHS doesn't worry about getting sued or BBB complaints cause they know most people don't want to spend time in court or write a complaint on the BBB website. Also, they have lawyers on their payroll. Hundreds of complaints were filed with BBB against American Home Shield one of which I list below Do your research before signing up with these people if it is worth it.
