Description
I'm a parent from Texas with three children (10,14, 15) who seeks adventure New Years Weekend. I took my 14 year old to Steamboat Springs last year for first time snowboarding. We had an excellent time in two days. Our itinerary was like this: Arrive Friday night around 1am at Rabbit Ears motel. Saturday morning we walked to a shop and bought plastic sleds and went sledding during a snow storm in Howelsten Hill Park, we didn't care....first time seeing snow in over 10 years. Saturday afternoon we did snowmobiling with a group. Saturday night we did the Hot Springs in town. Sunday morning we rode bus to rent snowboarding gear from the resort....we had no idea what we were doing and looked like major amateurs. The teenagers helping us were obviously irritated by our lack of knowledge. Want to avoid this embrassement next time! Sunday we spent a solid two hours at Howelsten Hill Park doing the free day. It was perfect. We practiced snowboarding and within 2 hours my son could go down the hill effortlessly. But no one taught us a thing so surely we made some mistakes learning on our own. By 2pm we hit the road back to Denver to catch an evening flight. Our short trip was jam packed and successful. Here's the thing....now that I'm taking my 10 year and his siblings I want to make sure they learn how to ski. We are first timers to winter sports. We don't understand equipment, sport language, beginner dos/don'ts. I'd like to hire someone for Sunday for a couple hours to teach me and my kids how it works. Let's meet at rental shop you think is good, where you help us rent gear correctly, go to Howelsten Hill where you show us for two hours how to ski. I'd like kids to be able to go down more than the practice hill and ride the lift....never done this before. Show us enough so when we come again we can stay longer and do more challenging runs eventually. Willing to tip $55/hour. Minimum of 3 hours of your time for January 1. I don't care if your a teenager or senior citzen, just be from the area and know what you're doing. Teaching kids requires patience and we feel dumb as it is, help us feel more relaxed in your special world! Thank you.
