Psych Rock/Jam Band. King Gizzard, Phish, Floyd, Post Rock, Campfire

Meets

Columbus OH

Description

We have a psych rock / jam band / shoegaze / post rock / jazz / folk thing going on and are beginning to take things a bit more seriously, building out a small studio space and practicing more often, as well as doing a couple open mic nights. https://youtu.be/0Pzq77HqfXQ https://youtu.be/PTahFG3uUtg https://youtu.be/8F2bb8cGsOM https://youtu.be/m4smc8z5GHg Our main overall influences are classic psych rock like Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, Beatles, Hendrix, and more modern jam bands like Phish and King Gizzard. Used to be into post rock like Explosions in the Sky, Yndi Halda, Mono, Samuel Jackson Five, Mogwai, etc, so post rock is a large influence as well. Other genres include acoustic/folk/campfire music, shoegaze, jazz (both played in jazz band in high school), some older underground Ohio metal (EYE, Deadsea, Skeletonwitch, Ludicra) and math rock (Hella, Black Midi), classical (various guitar etudes), even some EDM (Haywyre), video game and movie music, etc. Basically anything that has a good focus on the artistry and creativity of the actual music. We are not into most pop/radio music, for better or worse, but embrace a wide range of genres. It's just the two of us mostly, have a couple people who join infrequently, but are looking for more dedicated players. We play guitars and bass guitar, vocals, and a bit of keys and drum machine. We are 30 y/o and have been playing music since high school, so around 15 years, and are generally familiar with most styles of music and theory. We do write lyrics and occasionally write tab or chord sheets out, although mostly play by ear. However we are not shredders and are willing to work with anyone and care more about your creativity than playing ability, although it would be nice if you know how to improvise and play by ear. WE ARE LOOKING FOR: A drummer, vocals that fit the style, guitar, bass, harmonica/color instruments, anything really. If you have a larger space to play or a home studio, that helps a ton, we do have a small space to play although I think real drums would not be able to play in this space, or at least would have to be electronic drums. We would be looking to meet once a week preferably, we are in the Worthington area but are mobile to jam elsewhere. ***PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO SEND OVER AN EMAIL IF THIS SOUNDS GOOD. Will reply!***
