If you love hands-on learning and DIY projects, this natural cold process soap class at our shop will satisfy your curiosity. You'll learn how to make cold process soap with Jenny, of Jade Soap Shop. She will take you through every step with clear instructions in a supportive class environment. You'll learn the science behind cold process soap making and learn how to handle lye safely. Everything you need from tools and supplies will be available to you in class. You can choose to bring your own mold or reserve a silicone mold as an extra. You'll also learn how to use scents and add color to your soap. Over 30 kinds of Natural colorants, Additives and Essential Oils for you to choose for making your own natural soap with us!Once you're done, you'll have plenty of natural, handmade soap to take home and enjoy. Location: Jade Soap Shop 1597 Main St. Dunedin FL 34698 Duration: 2 hours Capacity: 2-8 people (must be 16 years old or older)Knowledge required: Beginner-friendly, no soap making experience is required. What you'll get: A loaf of soap over 2 pound you make in-class, which is about 9-10 bars if cutting 1-inch thick pieces. What to bring: A face mask (for protecting your face while handling caustic materials, we strongly suggest you bring one)A thick towel for wrapping and keeping the soap insulated on your way homeWe will provide the disposable apron and gloves, but feel free to bring yours.What you will learn and receive at this workshop: Science and knowledge of cold process soap making.Dealing with Lye safely and properlyTools and Materials/Ingredients required for soap making.Basic coloring and scenting skills.Step-by-Step cold process soap making procedure.handout with the recipe and detailed instructionWhat you need to know about the workshop/ class: We will be working with a chemical called "Sodium hydroxide (lye) " (Lye is used in the saponification process to turn oil into soap - no sodium hydroxide remains in the finished product.) Please be extra careful while handling LYE in class.THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR ADULTS ONLY and it requires your full attention while making the cold process soap. No pets or kids allowed in the workshop for safety's sake. If you're a high school student and would like to attend, you'd need to provide approval by your parent or guardian.No walk-ins or sit-ins will be allowed for safety's sake.The reservation needs to be made at least 1 week in advance because we need to prepare everything in advance. Thank you for your understanding.!! Covid-19 and Workshop Safety Rules !! (Must Follow for protecting everybody in the class. We reserve the right to dismiss anybody who breaks the rules If you're sick, stay home, please notify us to transfer you to the next workshop.Anybody is REQUIRED to wear a FACE MASK if you're not vaccinated while attending this workshop. Please bring your own mask, or purchase 1 with the workshop. (Due to the shortage and rising cost, we NO LONGER provide face masks for free. Thank you for your understanding) Please do re-consider signing up if you cannot wear a face mask for any reason.Wear an Apron, pair of gloves, and eyewear (a pair of glasses or safety goggles) while making the soaps. We will provide these or you can bring your own.No physical contact with your classmates in class. Please KEEP THE SOCIAL DISTANCE.Wash your hands with soap thoroughly before and after the workshop.Registration and Cancellation Policy (Must Read): In order to receive a refund, a cancellation notice must send at least 2 days (48 hours) before the class.Cancellation within 2 days before the class will receive a credit for attending the future workshop in 6 months.Cancellation in less than 24 hours before the workshop or no-show will not receive any refund or credit. No refund or credit will be issued if you get dismissed by breaking our COVID-19 safety rules.If unfortunately, we are not able to open this workshop, you can choose to transfer to another date or receive a full refund.Accident Waiver and Release of Liability: I assume all of the risks for myself (for parents: I give consent for my child or children under 18 years of age) to participate in this activity or event, including by way of example and not limitation, any risks that may arise from negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons or entities being released, from dangerous products, materials, or defective equipment or property owned, maintained, or controlled by them, or because of their possible liability without fault.
