The Listening Experience Series at Smoots Presents: The Virtuoso Jazz Guitar of Barry Leach Barry Leach is a guitarist’s guitarist known for his amazing technique in rock, pop, jazz, and classical music. Born in Kentucky and reared in Mississippi, Barry started playing guitar at age 12, was inspired by both rock and blues, and attended the University of Southern Mississippi where he earned a bachelor’s degree in jazz studies. His performances are an eclectic blend of many styles and genres. This entertaining show consists of a variety of original solo guitar pieces, well-known songs, and vocals. Voted multiple times as “Best Musician” by the Jackson Free Press, he has performed and/or recorded with numerous artists including the Dee Barton Orchestra, HBO, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Carmine Appice, Dorothy Moore, The Vamps, and The Barry Leach Group.
