This presentation brings together the dynamics of immigration and the history of Latinos in Kansas told through the lens of visual art and poetry. It showcases an interactive exploration of a personal journey from the heart of Colombia to the heart of the United States, exploring the conundrum of belonging in unfamiliar surroundings while straddling two different cultures and narratives. Jose will also speak about the Latino presence in Marion County. Donations will be collected to the Peabody Community Angel Fund, a fund in memory of beloved community volunteer Angel Torres who immigrated to Peabody from Mexico to work for the railroads.
