Queer Scouts Presents: Shab-e Yalda, the next topic in our accessible education series. We start our evening with a scholarly perspective from Maral Sahebjame about current events in Iran. Maral is a pre-doctoral instructor and doctoral candidate of Near and Middle Eastern Studies and a Law, Societies, and Justice graduate fellow at the University of Washinton. We end the night celebrating Shab-e Yalda, the traditional Iranian holiday observing the longest and darkest night of the year, by eating fruits, nuts, and reciting classical Iranian poetry together in queer community. Donations welcomed but not required.
