** At this time registration has closed to all non first responders. Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training is a solution focused community model response to helping people in crisis. CIT-RI specializes in the training of law enforcement, fire and EMS response, and the department of corrections. By the end of this 40-hour training academy, participants will be able to: Understand common signs and symptoms of mental illnessSafely de-escalate individuals experiencing behavioral health crisesUtilize available resources and diversion strategies to provide assistanceEngage partners to meet the needs of those in crisis.This curriculum is taught by local specialists from law enforcement, behavioral health, and the consumer advocate field.
