The founders of the MLK Jazz in the Park event knew, when they began six years ago, the day would come when they would need to pass the baton to allow the event to grow in a way that is reflective of the growth in Lakeland. For the 2022 event, The Blended Family Foundation came on board as the organization to lead those changes. After an extremely successful festival in January 2022 featuring local artists and the Let’s Ride Band from Jacksonville, FL, The Blended Family Foundation, with support and feedback from the local community, announced that the name of this annual jazz event will be changed to The Swan City Jazz Festival. This change was made to elevate the event and celebrate what makes Lakeland the contemporary and charming city it is. It’s time to do more, build more, become more, jazz more!
