At Grimsley High School he studied under the renowned Stefan Stuber, and continued his training after school by improvising in weekly “musical therapy” sessions with his friend Devin Foust, a young man with Down Syndrome. After cutting his teeth in Greensboro, Casey has toured the country with his band Big Something, and has performed on stage with Kamasi Washington, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and members of Umphrey’s McGee and The String Cheese Incident. What he has to say about 52nd Street Alto “From the first moment I played the 52nd street, I knew I had found what I had been longing for. Without having to search for an old horn, I had a vintage style instrument right at my fingertips. After years of playing modern style horns, the style of the 52nd street alto gave me a literal breath of fresh air. There is a certain freedom that I experience with this horn that I have never had the opportunity to utilize until now. Built like an old-school sax, the 52nd Street provides a warm and deeper tone that fits my playing style better than I would have imagined. I see myself enjoying this horn for the rest of my career.” www.bigsomething.com Ranford Almond Bringing the soul from Greensboro, North Carolina, Ranford Almond is a young singer/songwriter and trobador that has begun to make his mark across the Southeast. Raspy fresh vocals meet the Appalachian strings of Ranford's guitar, reminiscent of John Prine and Townes Van Zandt with his own unique stamp. Furthermore, his talent extends far beyond composition and strumming, as he is a warrior with the electric as well. Ranford plays as a solo artist as well as fronting a full band. He also plays lead in the Greensboro based psychedelic folk collective Viva La Muerte. The year 2020 saw the release of Ranford Almond's debut EP entitled "Back Burner," which is available on all streaming platforms and highlights his songwriting and arranging abilities. Additionally, he has played the stages of major venues and festivals such as Mountain Music Fest, Shakori Hills, The Big What?, Mantrabash, The Heap, Mayday on Mcgee, and many more. He has shared the stage with with artists across the region and is currently in the studio recording a full length debut. However, with his debut EP, Back Burner, young Ranford displays a maturity in his songwriting that belies his young 21 years of age. Throughout this short journey of folksy tunes, abundant with lyrical depth and emotional songwriting, it can be easy for the listener to mistake these songs as those of a much more rugged and traveled character, grizzled by years of burden and heartbreak."
