Hello! I am a physician assistant at Shands Health with ties to Belize. I have volunteered at the main hospital in the country, Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, and have personally seen the dire needs of the doctors and nurses who have dedicated their lives to serving the people of Belize. The only intensive care unit, which is run by 1-2 doctors at the moment (working essentially 24/7) need basic, life-saving equipment that would help people survive otherwise very treatable illnesses/traumas (pneumonia, pancreatitis, motor vehicle accidents, etc.) If you or someone you know may have a way of helping, please contact me.
