Description

The Open Space Authority is excited to welcome the public and regular volunteers to this Land Steward event to help us create just over 1 mile of a new hiking trail segment at Máyyan 'Ooyákma – Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve. Under the direction of our field staff and with the support of our expert Trail Master volunteers, we will use hand tools to create a new segment of hiking trail that ascends from the valley floor up to Coyote Ridge. We will provide clean gloves, tools, and project-related supplies as well as training for the day. You must have a Release of Liability form and have completed our volunteer vaccination survey. Forms can be found at the links in your email confirmation and in follow up emails from the event organizer at [email protected]. Given the presence of naturally occuring Asbestos in serpentine soils, the Open Space Authority also needs to provide each volunteer joining us with two forms. These include a Naturally Occurring Asbestos Notification (for you to sign) and a Naturally Occurring Asbestos Best Management Plan (for you to review). We can provide those forms digitally and in-person on site. We will meet promptly at the Coyote Ridge entrance on Malech Rd. Directions will be sent to all attendees at least 2 days prior to the event. Please be on the lookout for emails from Kat Hill at [email protected] and reach out if you are not sure. Rain may impact our ability to access the work site so please be on the lookout for emails from the organizer. Please note that youth 14-17 are welcome to join us with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian. Please let us know if you intend to bring youth to volunteer so that we can provide the required paperwork.
