A Step Closer to Statehood

Today, Thursday, December 15, 2022, the Democrats are rushing to provide a path for Puerto Rico to become a state. They will vote on the Puerto Rico Status Act before the House is dominated by Republicans. I urge everyone to contact their Senators, and all Senators and Representatives to vote against the bill for two reasons: 1. There is a high rate of poverty in Puerto Rico and as such, as a state, there will be a financial drain of taxpayer dollars that can be better squandered in cleaning up black neighborhoods, for example. 2. The Democrats think there will be 3.3 million more votes for their party once there is statehood, and this is highly the probability that Puerto Ricans vote Democratic. The Democrats want power and votes so bad that they will sacrifice anything to get them, even sacrificing better judgment and America's resources as is in this case. Puerto Rico has no resources or intellectual talent that could be used for the good of America. They will be subject to state and Federal income tax if they become a state, and that will be more of a potential burden on its citizens who can afford to pay that. This income will be more than offset by the governmental handouts the Democrats will gleefully throw their direction if they become a state. This is a lose-lose scenario. Most Americans do not want statehood for Puerto Rico, but the Democratic representatives are blind to that.
