Leather carving (a.k.a. leather tooling, leather stamping) is the art of imprinting designs into leather using metal stamps and a mallet. If you've marveled at the designs on wallets, handbags, saddles, belts, etc and thought "I'd like to do that!" Now's your chance to give it a try without investing in all the tools! And enjoy some good LOCAL beer to boot! Ticket price includes 1 beer and all materials Want to get a jump start on learning? Check out the video below for an overview of the leather tooling process! FAQ about event: Q: Do I need to be able to draw to create the design? A: Not at all! You will be tracing a design from a printed paper. There will be many to choose from when you arrive Q: Can I bring my own design? A: Yes if you would like but keep some guidelines in mind: provided leather pieces will be 6" x 6". Simple black-and-white line art (ex: coloring books) makes the best template to trace. See examples in images. Q: Is this event kid-friendly? A: The event is being hosted at a brewery, and thus alcohol will be served. The activity does use some sharp blades and requires manual dexterity. Please use your own discretion. Q: Is beer included? A: Participants will be given 1 free drink ticket included with the price of event ticket. After that you may purchase any additional drinks you would like from the bar. Q: Will there be food? A: Food will not be provided by event host. However there may be a food truck as usual at the brewery for food purchase. Keep in mind this leather is highly absorbent of liquids and oils and any oil may stain your piece!
