Looking to design a new garden or add a bit of interest to your existing landscape? In this two-day immersive program, you will gain the design skills and learn the theory to elevate your gardening to the next level. Through a variety of group exercises — emphasizing the important factors to consider when designing a landscape and getting familiar with new techniques to efficiently plan your garden layout — gardeners of all skills will be able to participate and create their own landscape design. This is an exclusive opportunity to work with Executive Director, Matthew Ross in an exciting and engaging 2-day design course. Seating is limited to 25 students and all supplies and equipment will be provided.
Classes will be held January 21st & 22nd from 9:00 am - 12:30 pm each day at the Botanic Garden Visitor's Center. In the event of inclement weather, the Sunday class will include both sessions. (9:00 am - 12:30 pm and 2:00 - 4:30 pm)
About our Instructor
Matthew Ross is the Executive Director of The Botanic Garden at Historic Barns Park. Before coming to Traverse City, he worked as the Continuing Education Director at Longwood Gardens overseeing over 200 programs in horticulture, landscape design, and floristry. He is nationally recognized as a leader in horticulture and gardening, and has a BS and MS from Michigan State University in Horticulture Science with an emphasis in Landscape Design Construction Management and Urban Forestry respectively.
