Description

LSO's concert features the popularly known Dvořák's "New World Symphony, which has themes echoing Dvořák's own emotional journey from his intense longing for his beloved Bohemia to the thrill of the "new world." His influence on American composition may be just as cultural as it is musical - he stated that folk tunes written on our soul including spirituals and songs from native Americans were the future of American music. The program also includes living composer Jessie Montgomery's exciting Strum, which draws on American folk idioms and the spirit of dance and has never been performed in Loudoun County. LSO's program will be conducted by Rebecca Bryant Novak, a finalist for the LSO conductor position. Doors open at 7 PM and seating is open. Concert Program: Johannes Brahms: Hungarian Dance Nos. 1, 3, 10Jessie Montgomery: StrumAntonin Dvořák: Symphony No. 9 in E minor, “From the New World”
