Classroom teachers, join us at the beautiful Deer Park Prairie Preserve to explore how EcoRise curriculum, resources, and grant funds can be used to increase student engagement and cultivate outdoor learning as well as eco-literacy and student innovation on your campus. Teachers who register and attend will receive a $25 gift card. Through hands-on professional development, K-12 classroom teachers will develop the skills and tools that they need to help their students evaluate local issues related to sustainability and conservation with a special focus on Houston's riparian areas and the migratory birds that inhabit these areas. In addition, teachers will access EcoRise's Sustainable Intelligence and Design Studio curricula to empower their students to design effective, measurable solutions to solve sustainability challenges on campus, through scientific inquiry, eco-audits, and student driven grant funds for green campus projects.  Agenda- Lesson Exploration and Platform Scavenger Hunt- Conduct a Mini-Audit- Eco-Audit Grant Application Process and Exemplars- Design an Eco-Audit- Complete a Mock Eco-Audit Grant Application This workshop is free and open to current K-12 Houston and Galveston area classroom teachers, as well as as science administrators and instructional coaches.
