Description
Trauma Healing: Trauma refers to the effects of disruptive events that happen through our human experience in a broken world. These events, whether caused by abuse, divorce, violence, human trafficking, global pandemics, or natural disasters, often leave those experiencing trauma overwhelmed with intense fear, helplessness, and horror. Trauma may be direct or indirect, is often difficult to put into words, overwhelms the normal human coping mechanisms, shatters dignity, and destroys choice. Trauma Healing Initial Equipping: The Initial Equipping sessions introduce participants to the Trauma Healing Institute's trauma healing materials in an experiential, participatory manner that prepares participants to help others in their healing journey. The successful completion of Initial Equipping certifies participants as Apprentice Facilitators. After the Initial Equipping, Apprentice Facilitators must complete two Practicums prior to moving forward to Advanced Equipping. The successful completion of the Advanced Equipping provides full certification as a Healing Facilitator. This process is essential to ensure trauma healing facilitators are fully equipped to provide a safe and sacred space that will afford healing group participants a ‘do not harm’ experience. The goal is that by the end of the initial equipping session, participants are able to: Experience a deeper level of healing by Jesus of any wounds of trauma or loss that they are carrying. Acknowledge anything that would hinder their own ability to provide a ‘do no harm’ environment for healing group participants. Respond more effectively to the suffering of others. Successfully complete a test to demonstrate understanding of the material Receive feedback for improved facilitation skills Offer feedback for course and facilitators If certified as Apprentice Facilitators, co-lead at least two small groups (practicum) of people through the same healing process, then attend an advanced equipping session, which leads to certification as Facilitator. Who should attend? You should attend if you are a layperson, clergy, mental health professional, social justice advocate, NGO worker, and/or anyone with a desire to be equipped with biblical principles and best mental health practices in helping those wounded by trauma and/or loss.
