Hi, we're an educational farm seeking a Barn Assistant / Horse Trainer to work with us in Chapel Hill. The person I'm looking for is a horse or animal enthusiast, has an excellent work ethic, is willing to be trained to accomplish the necessary skills, and is great at communicating with other staff. As an educational farm, we want our staff to be community minded and have a passion for teaching and learning to contribute to growth. Required Responsibilities: - Bring horses in / take horses out to pasture - Morning feeding - Regular maintenance and cleaning - Maintenance of tack - Regular communication with Barn / other managers - Assistance in vet care, farrier needs, and horse health - Observation and reports on pastures and fences to other staff Preferred Experience / Skills: (preferred but not required) - previous high-level horse care experience - previous horse riding experience at high intermediate - advanced level - childcare or experience with children - teaching / lesson experience Schedule: 8:30-1:30 Mon - Fri Part-time at 25 hours per week Must be on time and prepared for work each day Opportunities for additional hours are possible if interested Benefits / Perks: Agreed on pay Work in a fun environment with horses / farm animals Shared access to fresh produce and eggs when available Opportunities for additional horse training from experienced barn staff Please apply through our website by copying and pasting this link into your browser: Please feel free to call at (919) 968-8581.
