Education session provided by Spenser Johnson from Barclay Water Management.
Agenda:
11:00 - Engineers Meeting
11:30 - Lunch and Education Session
Attendees will be given an overview of Legionella bacteria and Legionnaires’ disease and building water system factors that allow for Legionella bacteria amplification. Attendees will learn components of a Water Management Program necessary to satisfy The Joint Commission’s EC.02.05.02 Water Management Standard, ASHRAE Standard 188-2021 and the CMS QSO-17-30 Memorandum. Legionella bacteria sampling is part of a robust WMP validation program, and allows facilities to make adjustments to their monitoring plans. Routine maintenance of control locations and water treatment are important factors in maintaining good water hygiene. Supplemental disinfection, including the use of monochloramine on a remediation basis, can help mitigate Legionella bacteria growth in building water systems. Attendees will review a case study using monochloramine as a short-term remediation strategy.
