Description

Please join us on Friday, January 13th from 9am to 12pm for an engaging and informative workshop. The YouthForce NOLA Learning Design Team, Nathan Stockman and Rahmel Fuller, will share some tried and tested strategies from the past 5 years of Soft Skills Fellowships and Cooperatives, as well as guide attendees through the process of creating your own classroom strategy(ies). Helping students develop soft skills is a critical part of having our students be ready for life beyond the structures of high school. All too often we rely on "chance opportunities" or "teachable moments". While those are outstanding avenues to provide much needed instruction about soft skills, let's stop doing this passively and make it intentional. With intentionality your students will be able to "Name, Claim, and Own" their soft skills. This workshop is great for anyone who wants to start 2023 with a plan and a strategy for elevating the ways your students approach your tasks, the ways they engage in the tasks, and the skills they pull from them. Parking: Attendees may park in the Energy Center Annex Parking Garage to have parking validated. Refreshments: Light breakfast (pastries, fruit, coffee) will be served from 8:30-9:00. Continuing Learning Units (CLUs): Attendees will receive certificates of attendance and completion that may be submitted as 3 hours towards CLUs, or otherwise similarly named hours.
