On Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 11:00 am, 505 N County Farm Rd, Wheaton, IL 60187, a Judge in the 18th Judicial Circuit Court, DuPage County, Illinois will hold a court session on The People of the State of Illinois ex rel. Kwame Raoul, Attorney General of Illinois v. Wheaton Historic Preservation Council; Alberta Adamson, Laurie Warfel, and Gloria Leetz (case # 2021CH000460), a civil case that will have a great impact on the people of Wheaton. The initial complaint alleged that the WHPC illegally transferred over $300,000 to a board member Alberta Adamson among other complaints. In the words of Attorney General Raoul, “Defendants used the people who donated to the Wheaton History Preservation Council and believed that their donations would help preserve the history of their community. I have filed this proceeding to hold the members of the board accountable. My office will continue to hold the individual responsible for using the charity fund for the benefit of the individual.” This case is important to all supporters of local history.
