Glacier Fish Company and North Star Fishing Company are hiring crew for the upcoming season; vessels depart in January for the start of 2023 fishing season. At-Sea Processors work aboard factory trawling vessels off the coast of Alaska and in the Bering Sea.Job Fair: Thursday, December 15th 9am - 2pmLocation: 2001 West Garfield St, Pier 91, Seattle, WA 98119Come learn about our openings and apply in person!Working onboard an at sea processing vessel is physically and mentally challenging. The environment is wet and cold and the shifts are long. Crew members make a contractual commitment to being at sea for extended periods of time, leaving family and friends at home. The job requires:Physical enduranceRepetitive liftingAgilityProlonged periods of standingTeamworkSelf-disciplineTHIS POSITION IS A GOOD FIT FOR THOSE WITH EXPERIENCE IN LABOR INTENSIVE & PRODUCTION JOBS! – For example Oil Rig Workers, Construction Workers, Farmers, Loggers, Miners, Firefighters and Derrick Hands.Compensation:Crew paid a percentage or share of the catch each trip.Free room and board on board the vessel.Flights to/from Dutch Harbor from point of hire (Seattle) paid upon completion of contract terms.Eligible to enroll in 401K the first of the month after hire; eligible match after eligibility requirements are met.Health/Dental benefits once eligibility requirements are met.Job Duties and Responsibilities:Sort fish by species, size and conditionTend and operate machineryInspect product to ensure it meets Company quality standardsPackage, weigh and label productPlace product into freezersOperate and clean factory equipmentParticipate in offload of frozen product at end of tripLoad and unload other supplies on the vesselSkills and Abilities Required:Must have at least 6 months - 1 year of recent experience working in a physically demanding position preferred.Ability to work 16 hours per day, 7 days a week in all kinds of weather conditions.Understand instructions and safety rules in EnglishBoard and exit vessel without assistance by climbing up and down a gangway or Jacob's ladder.Perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time.Be away from medical attention for up to 3 months.Repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.Share spaces with others including crew quarters, dining areas and bathrooms.Crew sign a contract for one (1) trip, at the end of each trip, you will be offered additional work and will sign an extension agreeing to one (1) more trip. 65 day contract terms is our company travel policy agreement.
