Butch graduated from Dublin High School and went on to be a touring musician with The Father of Bluegrass Music, Bill Monroe, as well as with Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame member, Leon Russell and The New Grass Revival, amongst many others. He was inducted into the Bill Monroe Hall of Fame in 2016. Locally, after his touring days came to a close, Butch has played with the late John Viers, known to many in Pulaski County and for a few years, was a regular participant in the Pulaski Seniors' weekly jam sessions. Butch currently has regularly scheduled appearances at The Blue Ridge Music Center in Galax, Virginia. He has recorded several critically acclaimed albums for Rounder Records and Hay Holler Records, has written an autobiography, "What I Know 'Bout What I Know", and with the help of Bud Bennett and Radford University, completed a series of videos for the McConnell Library called "Blue Grass Music, its Origin and Development as a Unique and Creative Art Form". Max on Main will open at 5:00 p.m. with an abbreviated menu of paninis, waffles, and specialty coffees and teas. They'll turn off the espresso machine and start the concert at 6:00 p.m.
