Description

We will be meeting every week on Sundays at 2pm, except for holidays. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early so we can get settled mindfully in our seats before we start. We may change the location of the sangha depending on how many people are willing to make a regular weekly commitment to attending. What is a sangha? A sangha is a local community of mindfulness practitioners who gather to meditate, to share their joys and difficulties, and to encourage each other on the path of practice. Meeting regularly with others to sit and share together is a precious way to cultivate our understanding and compassion and to re-establish our deep connection with ourselves, others and our precious earth. FYI: Buddhism presented in this way need not interfere or conflict with religious belief systems. Many find it enhances their spiritual connection. Rules 1) We practice loving speech and deep listening. A time to share our experiences, our joys, our difficulties and our questions. 2) We refrain from characterizing the experiences of others, giving unsolicited advice, or inserting ourselves in their stories. We avoid cross talk and debates. We speak from our own experience of mindfulness practice. 3) We will remember not to gossip, criticize or condemn things we are not sure of. Whatever is shared is confidential and we respect that an individual may not want to talk about this individually outside of Dharma practice. 4) We become witness to sangha members. We support healing, joy, and spiritual growth of the individual and ourselves. Thank you for respecting the rules and ensuring safety while honoring others sharing in the sangha We will gather in the conference room on the ground floor. Late arrivals please come in quietly. We do not have any meditation cushions, only chairs and a table. Please bring anything that may support your body during practice. Please be aware that there is limited room to sit on the floor. Facilitator: Sejal Acharya (Sage) Sage has been practicing formal and informal mindfulness practices and following the eight fold path for 7 years under her meditation teachers Bill and Susan Morgan. As a mental health therapist, Sage often guides her clients (when appropriate) in mindfulness practice. Please feel free to send questions, concerns or ideas for the sangha to [email protected]. We do ask that all members register to allow us to prepare for all that may attend. Contributions (Dana): Following the Buddhist tradition of practicing generosity, called dana, we are invited to give to the sangha whenever we meet. It is not necessary to give to attend. No one will be turned away if they cannot donate. Dana is used to sustain the sangha, such as supporting off-site rentals in the future, incidental costs, printing of reading materials, as well as causes the sangha agrees to support. Thank you for your commitment and practice
