The Western North Carolina mountain region is home to many. The beauty is what brings us here but the people are who keep us here. The unique small businesses, the outdoor adventures, the attractions, the culture, the food and the hospitality are some of the best in the Southeast and what makes us a popular destination for tourists from around the country and the world. Without our business owners and our region’s workforce creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience, our economy would not thrive. WeSpeakWNC was designed to celebrate and support the businesses and people who make up our retail, accommodation, tourism, and entertainment sectors. They are the familiar faces that locals see daily and the first impression our visitors have when they arrive. The employers and employees are ambassadors for this region, leading guests from one experience to the next, shining a spotlight on all that is hidden in these mountains, and building bridges between Western North Carolina and the rest of the world. We honor and value the hard work of these businesses and their staff, and the WeSpeakWNC Workforce Conference is our way of thanking them. At this conference, we will connect these businesses and their employees to each other and to all of the support and resources available to them in the region. We will offer hands-on workshops, trainings, and networking opportunities to become stronger and more resilient. We will ensure that both employers and employees leave the conference having the tools they need to be the best they can be. We will also introduce our area's younger generation to these businesses, letting them know they can start a limitless career path right here in their own backyard. This is a two-day conference taking place on 2/27 from 9 - 5 PM and 2/28 from 9 - 5 PM. You can choose to attend one day, but attending both is highly encouraged.
