Description

Welcome back! It gives us such immense pleasure to invite you back to our annual holiday party after three long COVID years! Please come, bring a dish to share, and join in for fun, laughter, and a renewed commitment to work together to create safe streets and trails for bicycling and walking. LOCATION: Event is at Parkstone Alexandria, a high rise apartment building one block West of the 395 King Street interchange. The building is located at 3001 Park Center Drive, just after Ford Avenue. See sign on the right for PARKSTONE ALEXANDRIA. If you've gotten to the resident parking lot entrance, you've gone too far. Party is in Club Room on the main lobby level. See ENTRY DETAILS below. GETTING HERE BIKE PARKING Parkstone has no bike parking, alas. There is one set of bike racks across the street on Ford, just past the main entrance to Park + Ford, a new residential high rise complex. There are plenty of signs along the streets you can hitch your bike to. CAPITAL BIKE SHARE: From Parkstone, one long block northwest on Ford and North Hampton. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION Parkstone Alexandria is well served by bus transit. Metrobus drops you off right at the building on Park Center Drive. DASH is only a short block away. Both run frequently at that hour and DASH is free! Arriving via Metro? Blue Line to Pentagon (Yellow Line is still out). Hop on the DASH #35 express bus for a fast ride. Drops you off a half block from our building. Buses are also available at the Braddock Road Metro. CAR PARKING This is a dense area with several high rise apartment and condo buildings. There is limited street parking. It is all free and unrestricted at that hour, except for Ford Avenue. If you arrive before 5:30 pm, you can grab a spot on Park Center Drive before they go. If those are taken, drive northwest to North Hampton. If there are no immediate street spots, drive to Fairlington on the other side of King Street. The streets right off King are restricted but once you drive one block inward, there is plentiful parking. It is all free and unrestricted. Carefully note when parking restrictions are lifted. Your walk to the party will take around 12 minutes. Ford Avenue has a two hour limit. Only park there (very close to our building) if you intend to only stay for less than two hours. There is a garage across the street, right at Ford and Park Center Drive. Limited parking there for a fee.If you are arriving late, a handful of spots right outside the main Parkstone entrance become available at 6:00 pm. They do go fast, though.PARKSTONE ENTRY DETAILS Enter through the main entrance. Concierge will buzz you in. She may ask you where you are headed, please just tell her you are attending the BPAC event. As you enter the lobby, immediately make a left. Head down that corridor. Club Room is on your RIGHT, halfway down the hallway. You will pass the mailroom first on your right. Club Room comes up next. If you've gotten to apartment units, you've gone too far. You can't miss us. We will have greeters! KITCHEN The party room is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, warming oven, and sink. No cooking apparatus but you may heat or chill your dish. BATHROOMS Two are in the party space with several more one flight below. FIREPLACES: There are two gas ones in the party room to create a cozy winter evening.
