Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Instructor: Ralph Schexnaydre Jr
In this workshop on Saturday, you'll create an 11" x 14" print using 3D objects, namely plant material, placed upon a chemically treated photo-sensitive substrate. You'll learn the dry method which renders a deep blue image with bright ghost-like silhouettes and the wet method which uses spices and other household materials for a more colorful print. On Sunday, you are welcome to join us to mount and frame your piece otherwise we will frame it for you.
Cyanotypes are one of the earliest photographic processes dating back to the 1840s. It was developed for reproducing mathematical tables and technical drawings. This simple process was adopted for photographic use in the 1870s.
Bring your own fall botanicals, book pages, jewelry, or anything else you want to try! All other materials will be supplied by NUNU including both a mat and frame for one of your pieces. The price includes all supplies, materials, and frame costs.
The completed frame pieced will be included in a group show that will hang in Le Coin Coin Gallery throughout the month of January with an artist reception on January 14th, 11 AM-4 PM, during the monthly Deuxime Samedi Open House.
