This annual event is a joint gathering between our English and Spanish-speaking community members. We also invite the entire San Mateo community (kids especially welcomed!) to join us at 7pm to put on an angel, shepherd, or animal costume and walk around outside looking for a "room at the inn." This is a guided experience that enacts a part of the Christmas story and is rooted in rich Latin American traditions. We will sing in English and Spanish as we walk to different stations where we will hear both ancient and contemporary social justice messages about immigration today as migrants look for welcome at our border. While this story and our community are rooted in the Christian tradition, all are welcome regardless of faith or background. The event will conclude with a free tamale feast, warm drinks, and a pinata!
