Description
This authentic movement workshop creates space to connect to the structures and movement patterns naturally within us. The journey to our present human form occurred over a very very long time and with each great transformation, there came a new dimension of form and possibility. These workshops hope to expand our felt sense of ancestry and deepen our belonging to the animal world. You will learn about the evolution of our anatomy and be guided into movement explorations, on the floor, standing or in between. We use the body as our primary tool for knowing. There will be times to reflect and write and also share in small groups. You do not need to be a dancer and this is not a performance. The material has been broken up into smaller workshops to allow for the awesome breadth of our human journey to be explored. We will look at what we have inherited from the ocean, the boarder, the land and the universe. Our bodies are our natural vessel for wellness, movement and self knowledge are catalysts to greater clarity, support, empowered action. This material has evolved out of my studies of embodiment with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen and especially her explorations in embryology. She led me to understand that our embodied history is transformed but not lost and she showed me ways we can remember and reawaken to more of our embodied past in movement exploration. ~ You do not need to know how to dance. You never have to "dance" to participate. ~ There will be a mixture of moving to silence, recorded music and live music. ~ You will be invited to be comfortable. We will be invited to sit, lie and roll of the floor. Come dressed in layers without zippers or rivets to be as comfortable as possible. Socks are good if your feet need to be extra cozy. We spend BRING A FLOOR MAT, CUSHION OR BLANKET FOR YOUR COMFORT ON THE FLOOR. ~ Come if you wish to unlock more movement, freedom, and creative energy in your life. ~ Come invite your ancestors & ancestry to move you. NEXT WORKSHOP DATES: Saturdays, Monthly Saturday, December 10th, 2022 Saturday, January 7th 2023 We will explore the journey from the non differentiated plurality of the sea star to the organization of the fish with a central axis and a defined head and tail. We will explore moving in pods and aligning throught the lateral body.
