The purpose of this event is to introduce the Hope Squad school based mental health and suicide prevention model to Alabama Schools. The program is nationally known for the ability to connect students with each other and to mental health resources and has a process that works on all levels for youth suicide prevention with relatively low dollar and staff commitments. The program currently exists in 36 states. The goal is to work towards a public/private partnership to fund the program for interested Alabama schools with funding presently available for a pilot program in Greater Birmingham area schools wanting to participate.
