Trying to locate an augur bit

I'm a guy trying to locate an augur bit but can't find one at any hardware store. I need it to be at least eight inches in length and it can be up to 2-1/2" in diameter. The project being drilled is softer, plyable material. If anyone has such an item, I'd be happy if I could use it.
